Amazon Sport Fishing — Iquitos, Peru

The Amazon basin near Iquitos holds some of the most productive freshwater fishing on the planet. Our guided sport fishing tours take you across rivers, oxbow lakes, and tributaries where peacock bass, piranha, pacu, and the massive arapaima all swim within casting distance. Whether you've fished your whole life or you're picking up a rod for the first time, our guides put you on the water in spots most anglers will never see.

FEATURED REGIONAL FISH SPECIES

What You'll Fish For

The waters around our lodge and throughout the greater Iquitos region are home to species that draw anglers from around the world. Peacock bass are the most sought-after — aggressive, powerful, and known for explosive strikes. Piranha fishing is a guest favorite and unlike anything you've experienced before. Pacu put up a strong fight and are prized for their taste. And for those looking for a true trophy, the arapaima (known locally as paiche) is one of the largest freshwater fish on earth, growing over two meters long. Some species are catch and release while others you can eat fresh at camp — your guide will walk you through what's available on your trip.

Where We Fish

We fish across multiple locations depending on the season, water levels, and what species you're targeting. That includes the Yanayacu River near the lodge, tributaries off the Amazon River, remote oxbow lakes, and flooded forest zones that open up during high water season. Our guides grew up fishing these waters and know where each species feeds at different times of year. You're not fishing from a dock — you're out in a boat navigating rivers and lakes that feel untouched.

What's Provided

We supply the fishing equipment matched to whatever species you're going after. Rods, reels, tackle, bait, and lures are included with your tour — no need to pack your own gear, though experienced anglers are welcome to bring their preferred setup. Your guide handles boat navigation, rigging, and spotting, so you can focus on the fishing.

Combine Fishing with Other Adventures

Many of our guests pair sport fishing with other activities during their stay. Spend the morning chasing peacock bass, then head out for a birding excursion in the afternoon. Add a night of jungle camping between fishing days. Or keep it simple and fish every day of your trip — we'll build the itinerary around your priorities. Tours run from 2 to 7 days with daily departures and flexible scheduling.
